Electrode cap is a type of electrode used for spot welding, mainly in the welding industry of resistance spot welding equipment, such as fixed spot welding machines, suspended spot welding heads, and robotic spot welding machines. Due to being placed on the electrode connecting rod, it is called electrode cap.

In general, the material of the electrode cap is chromium zirconium copper, with some parts made of dispersed copper material. After multiple welding operations, the worn parts need to be repaired and replaced, which are direct consumables for welding. During the processing, chromium zirconium copper is still the most commonly used raw material for electrode cap production. Adding an appropriate amount of chromium and zirconium to pure copper can effectively improve the hardness of the electrode cap and the temperature of high-temperature softening, resulting in better conductivity. The electrode cap made of dispersed copper is mainly used for welding galvanized sheets. Chromium reacts with the zinc inside the galvanized sheet to generate substances similar to copper, which has a significant impact on the quality of welding. This problem can be solved well by dispersing copper.

There are two ways to inspect the electrode cap, one is a destructive inspection method, and the other is the opposite, which is a non-destructive inspection. The main focus is on the mechanical performance inspection of the electrode cap base material and welding materials.
